THE (UN)HOLY RULES! (Believe me or not, MANDATORY READING!)

Alright people! You know what’s going to come! Yes, that’s right! RULES! Every place needs rules! It would be fun without them, but they’re ultimately there so other people don’t get hurt… and, yes, I’m sorry, but you’ll have to read these… I’ll be putting effort in making them fun to read, so you put effort in reading these and remembering them.

Now, that isn’t really a suggestion. The reading of these rules wholly is obligatory. Anyways, now that that’s out of the way, on to the actual rules.

Aside from a few exceptions (Art & Writing, Anime), most of this forum is all-ages. That means your little cousin of 6 years old and your grandma should be able to read this without feeling embarrassed or insulted.

1.1 Swearing:


Like mentioned earlier, this forum, aside from a few parts, is all-ages. We expect this forum to get travel from underage people. We also have a swear filter in place, which replaces your harsh words with loving words. This also means that subverting the swear filter is not appreciated. That swear filter isn’t there for nothing.


1.2 How to write:


Now, we know you guys aren’t all English and we know that typos happen… we know some of you are young and don’t know the spelling of some words. But we expect you to at least put some effort into making organized posts that aren’t a complete mess. This also includes the way you present your post… for example:

- TYPING EVERYTHING IN ALL CAPS IS NOT ALLOWED!

- Nor Is Capitalizing Every Single Frigging Word You Type.

- SaMe GoEs FoR tHiS kInD oF tYpInG! (Seriously, it’s hard to type that way!).

- 4nd 0bv10u5ly, l33t t4lk 15 th3 54m3.

You get what I mean. Oh, yeah, playing around with colors too much isn’t appreciated either. Stick to one color if you want to use something that’s not black.

Next, please try to avoid double-posting. Especially not if you want to keep a certain topic on the first page. If other people don’t seem to want to post in a topic you made, then it’s best to deal with it and not try to revive it all by yourself all the time.

Exception for this is in the rp-section and the Posts of Randomness topic. Go wild there.

Lastly, and that counts for every forum out there, please don’t converse in languages that are not English. Maybe one sentence is okay, but don’t have complete conversations in, say, Dutch.

Admin addendum: It is ok to type leet or in colors or whatever in an rp thread or something, just be sure that the context of the thread calls for it.


1.3 Harsh Criticism:


We have writers and artists here… heck, we have a whole sub-forum dedicated to writing. What we ask of you is to be gentle when criticizing their stories. Now, I’m not saying that you should sugar-coat everything. What I’m saying is that you should be constructive. If you think something isn’t good and you really want to tell people, tell them why you think so… I’ll guarantee you, people will love any constructive criticism you give.


1.4 User-to-user conduct:


We all strive to be nice. But now and then, there’s this one person that you don’t particularly like… or there is that one thing you really hate… or maybe an opinion of that other person is something that disgusts you… We ask of you to be, at all times, civil. We can’t stress this fact enough, all we want is a happy time on this forum.

We also ask of you not to mini-mod. If you think a user is not obeying the rules, report them to us. While it’s very brave to try and solve it yourself, leave the mod-y business to the mods.

Admin addition: No discrimination. Homophobia = no. Racism = no. Misogyny = no.

If we find something problematic enough expect a formal warning, if not banning

1.5 User-moderator conflicts
:

It happens… people that don’t like mods. Or mods that suddenly turn out to be not so nice mods… if you happen to not like mods, however, it’s still the same as not liking another. Be nice… and again, if you don’t like a mod and you really need to talk it out, do so outside the forum.


1.6 Avatars, Signatures & Custom Titles


For now, there are no special restrictions on these, aside from the fact that they should be family-friendly.


1.7 Usernames


The same goes for usernames.


1.8 Acceptable debating etiquette

1.9 Thread Necromancy
:

We are always happy for activity on any kind of topic, but when a topic is considered dead (no reply in 3 months), please leave it alone. Let them rest. No-one wants zombie-threads. Respect the dead.


1.10 Art & Writing Rules
:

The sub-forum for art and writing is a little different, because it is not all-ages. This is because some people here like to write horror stories or other content that somehow contains things that are not all-ages. However, anything erotic is not allowed if it shows any, uh, important parts… No suggestive poses either, got that?

Admin addition: Links to nsfw art is ok, as long as there is a warning.

1.11 Spoiler Rules
:

We have certain topics that are about shows that release new content, whether it’s daily or weekly. I point you to the anime/manga forum especially. Please discuss anything that is new ( in other words, it’s the newest content-release in the series) in spoiler-tags, so other people won’t get spoiled.


1.12 The Sexy Rule
:

Remember when I said that nothing erotic was allowed in the Art & Writing rules? That counts for everything here! We have women and kids and those generally don’t like dirty jokes or just generally talk about sex and the like. Please refrain from discussing any such thing… this rule may be overlooked in the anime/manga sub-forum, however, because, well… anime and manga just have that thing, y’know…


2.1 Punishments
:

Every case is different. Therefore, there isn’t really a manual for what will get you permanently banned and what not. We, the moderators and the admins, will discuss what punishment shall be handed down, though a moderator and admin may do a preventive ban so things won’t escalate any further while we discuss the proper punishment.

Lastly, our word is ultimate. I’m sorry to tell you this, but if you think you were completely in the right with something, but we do not think so, we will not hesitate to hand out bans or warnings that we think are for the better of the forums.


2.2 Ban Jumping
:

Ban jumping is not appreciated. This is the only action that I can tell you for sure will lead to a permanent ban, no matter who you are.


2.3 Conduct during ban:

If you have received a ban and you believe your ban, or the time that you have been banned, was not appropriate, you may contact an admin outside of the forums and discuss your ban with him.
